Woolson Soundcraft Double-Top

Information

In October of 2007, luthier Paul Woolson took his prototype Double-Top LG guitar to the LB Jam in Conyers, Georgia. The guitar was such a hit with everyone at the Jam that Paul decided to do a Road Trip for the guitar (which inspired the creation of this website). This guitar is based on the Woolson Soundcraft LG "Little Guy" body style and in addition to the double-top, it also has a double-back.

Visit the Woolson Soundcraft Website to learn more about the Double-top guitar design as well as the other custom hand-made acoustic guitars that Paul builds.

The Woolson Roadtrip is now over. The guitar now resides with Derek Coombs in California.

Larry Pattis - Creswell, Oregon

This LG is a very well-crafted guitar ... Compared to the Larrivee parlor I've been playing it is quite a beast (at just 14" across the lower bout) ... Tons of dynamic range, with a pure, responsive tone from quietest to loudest playing ... Strong, smooth tone from the trebles, and a balanced bass response, with the bass being focused (as it should be) rather than flabby ...

Derek Coombs - San Luis Obispo, California

This is one of the most beautiful guitars I have seen ... This guitar has a very smooth tone with nice fat and warm trebles all the way up the neck. The high E string is nearly as full sounding as the B string next to it and the G string next to that ... Interestingly even with the cedar top one can really play loudly with a lot of energy without the tone going south at all ...

David Hilyard - Santa Cruz, California

What a really big voice. Clear, dry and loud. Harmonics sing on this little guy. The sustain is long and sweet ... And it smelled so good ... The woods are beautiful and the workmanship top notch with a really beautiful high gloss finish ...
